CM Maryam Nawaz's e-bike scheme gives female students priority ballot access, a pink LiFePO4 e-bike, zero down payment, a free full-face helmet, safety rod and two-day riding training. Applications open September 4, 2026 at bikes.punjab.gov.pk — the same portal for all students.

What is different for female students in the September 2026 scheme
Pink-coloured e-bike
Female students receive a pink variant of the scheme e-bike. Identical specifications to the black model given to male students — same LiFePO4 battery, motor, and range. The colour is cosmetic only.
Priority ballot quota
A reserved proportion of the 125,000 available bikes is allocated specifically to female applicants before the open ballot runs. This increases the effective chance of selection for women compared to the general pool.
Full-face helmet free
All scheme recipients get a free full-face helmet — not open-face. A full-face helmet provides significantly better protection in a crash. Valued at Rs 3,000–5,000 at retail.
Free 2-day riding training
Mandatory riding safety course is arranged by the Punjab government after bike collection — at no cost. Especially important for female students who may be riding for the first time.
Zero down payment
CM Maryam Nawaz waived the down payment for the September 2026 scheme. No upfront lump sum required — just Rs 3,000/month from the first month after collection.
All 36 Punjab districts
Female students from all 36 districts are eligible — rural colleges included. There is no urban-only restriction.

Enrolled at an HEC-recognised institution in Punjab
Government and private colleges both qualify — must be HEC-recognised and in Punjab.
Valid motorcycle learner's permit or driving licence
Get this BEFORE applying. Takes 2–3 days at your traffic police office.
Punjab domicile / Punjab CNIC
You must be a Punjab resident.
No registered motor vehicle in your name
If you own a car or bike, you are not eligible.
One scheme bike per household
If a family member already received a scheme bike, you are not eligible.

Register with CNIC + mobile number
You will receive an OTP via SMS. Use a mobile number you can access immediately.
Select gender: Female
The portal places you in the female applicant priority quota automatically when you select your gender.
Fill in your academic details
College name, department, enrolment number, year of study. Double-check spelling — mismatches cause verification failures.
Upload your documents
Upload all required documents as clear scans or photographs. Each file must be under 2MB.
Submit and note your Application ID
Save the ID — you need it to track your result on the portal and via SMS.
Riding Safely
Safety for first-time female riders
Mandatory 2-day training
All scheme recipients must complete a 2-day riding safety course. For female students who have never ridden before, this is your starting point — you do not need to know how to ride before collecting the bike.
LiFePO4 battery — safest chemistry
The scheme bike uses lithium iron phosphate batteries, which cannot catch fire or explode — unlike older lithium-ion. This is significant for parking at home and charging safety.
Full-face helmet included
Your free helmet is full-face — the highest protection level. Always wear it. Punjab traffic police helmets checks are enforced on major roads.
Ride within your comfort zone
Start with quiet streets. The bike has a speed limiter at a safe urban limit. Avoid main highways until you are confident. The 2-day training covers city riding specifically.

Is the Punjab e-bike scheme free for female students?
In the September 2026 phase, the scheme has zero down payment for all students — male and female. Female students have priority ballot quotas ensuring a higher chance of selection. Earlier phases (2022–2024) had provisions for free scooty with no installments for female students — check bikes.punjab.gov.pk for exact September 2026 female-specific terms as they may be updated. The zero down payment and Rs 3,000/month installment is confirmed for all September 2026 applicants.
Do female students get a different colour e-bike?
Yes — MM News Urdu and other outlets reported that female students receive a pink-coloured e-bike while male students receive black. Both are the same LiFePO4 battery model, same specifications, same installment plan. The colour difference is cosmetic only and both models come with the same free helmet and safety rod.
Can a female student apply without a driving licence?
A valid learner's permit or full motorcycle driving licence is required for all applicants — male and female. Female students who do not yet have a permit should get one from their local traffic police office before applying. It takes 2–3 days and costs approximately Rs 500. The Punjab government's mandatory 2-day riding training (included free) will teach you to ride safely after you receive the bike.
Is there a separate portal or application for female students?
No — all applications go through the same portal: bikes.punjab.gov.pk. When filling the form you indicate your gender, and the system automatically places you in the female applicant quota pool. There is no separate link or application form for women.
What safety features are included for female riders?
Every scheme bike comes with a full-face helmet (not just an open-face helmet), a rear safety rod, and a mandatory 2-day riding safety course arranged by the Punjab government. The LiFePO4 battery is significantly safer than standard lithium-ion — it does not catch fire when damaged or overcharged. The bikes are also GPS-registered, which adds a security layer.
